The project reteams the filmmaker behind the upcoming Bruce Springsteen biopic 'Deliver Me From Nowhere' with producer Stuber, who is in the midst of relaunching the Amazon MGM Studios label.

Scott Cooper may be putting the finishing touches on his Bruce Springsteen biopic Deliver Me from Nowhere, but he is already eyeing his next possible film.

Cooper has closed a deal to write, direct, and produce an untitled crime drama for Amazon MGM Studios’ United Artists and the label’s chief Scott Stuber. Stuber and UA’s Nick Nesbitt will produce alongside Cooper.

Project details are under wraps, but it is understood to be a contemporary crime two-hander.

The feature also marks a reunion between Cooper and Stuber, who is a producer on Deliver Me from Nowhere, a sure sign that the collaboration is going strong on the creative side.

Cooper was a working actor before making the move behind the camera, and what a move it was. Written and directed by Cooper, 2009’s country singer drama Crazy Heart was an awards season sensation and won Jeff Bridges an Oscar.

He followed that up with movies exploring a range of dramatic genres, from the thriller Out of the Furnace to the Martin Scorsese-like true crime epic Black Mass to the Western drama Hostiles, among other films.

Deliver Me from Nowhere, which will be released by 20th Century Studios on Oct. 24, marks the most high-profile feature film yet for Jeremy Allen White since the actor became a critical darling thanks to his two Emmy wins for FX’s The Bear.

The Springsteen drama also made a buzzy showing at Cinemacon earlier this year where, among the loud big-budget popcorn fare, it emerged from the convention as a possible awards contender with commercial appeal.

Cooper is repped by CAA and Jackoway Austen.
